A thought has been simmering this weekend.
If you need a long weekend to plan a time-off, read tuning out or vacation, then something is really off about your life choices.

Imagine a life where you donβt need to plan around existing long weekends like the rest of the people around you!

Isnβt this similar to a 9-5 job v entrepreneurship debate ?

If everyone lives a life thatβs not worth escaping from, a lot of people who do the work that is needed for the innovators to work might not happen?

Folks who live a life not worth escaping π

I had a similar chat with someone recently where I said that I meet so many people during the week that my social battery is drained by the weekend.
Her reaction was the EXACT opposite. Saying her social battery is fully charged by Friday evening ready to be out the weekend and go do things

Itβs not a practice for me personally but I understand why people do this.
If we had a culture which encouraged taking breaks in a healthy manner, people wonβt be going stealth mode to get longer breaks.

Iβm not too sure. Itβs not just a company culture issue

Not just company. Like I donβt think healthy breaks as a concept is very much developed in Indian system. And this is connected to how we view work. Thatβs not healthy either.

What city is this?
BLR for me, but likely true for any major city that isnβt a tourist destination otherwise.

How do we view work? π
Work is framed as a means to an end, a chore to be repeated everyday. And this is not an individual viewpoint, the kind of world we live in is designed to make work alienating.

True. And is also depends where you live. City, town, or village.π
