We had posted about Noise's Master Buds, made in collaboration with the legendary Bose a few days ago. These are available for Rs 7,999 (and lower, with some offers), and have an eye-catching design. The big question of course, was do they actually sound good? Bose-like? Well, we have the answer for you.

For those who love clear, detailed audio, the news is good: the Bose Master Buds sound surprisingly good, No, they are not going to give the OG Bose earbuds a run for the money, but by Noise standards and actually by the standards of most TWS at this price, these are pretty good. Bass is not heavy or muddy, trebles are slightly high, but by and large, you get surprisingly clear and detailed audio. Mind you, we think they sound closer to a budget wired Sennheiser than a premium wireless Bose, which has a gently warm sound. But that is not a bad thing. You can use these for some very good general listening, across different genres. It won't blow your mind, but it won't blow your ears either!

The Noise Master Buds are pretty good for films, shows and podcasts. They do not have the rumble to excel at gaming or high bass audio (like underground) but we like their general clarity, and the absence of distortion at high volumes. We were also impressed by the call quality on them, which is always a tricky point with TWS. Mind you, their controls are a little difficult to handle - you have to press and tap a tiny dot on the buds and we ended up missing it quite often,

ANC is kind of mediocre - ok for using at home and at cafes, but it won't drown out enough of the Metro or traffic noise, You get about 4-5 hours battery on the buds, with the case adding another 24-25. Not too bad, really. And yes, they are IPX5 dust and water resistant. There is a companion Noise Audio app that lets you tweak settings, controls and set equalisers, but it is a little buggy at the time of speaking. Oh, and they do work with two devices at the same time. Yeah, impressive, right?

So how good are the Noise Master Buds? Well, it really depends on how you view them. By Noise standards, they are outstanding, By Bose standards, they are kind of okay. Would we recommend spending Rs 7,999 on them? Good question. We think it really depends on how much you value call quality, because these are super at it. In general audio terms, there are others that can match them, most notably the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE, the Galaxy Buds 2 and the OnePlus Buds Pro 2. These are pretty steady performers. Just be patient with the app and the interface. Bose has certainly done a better job on them than it did with Motorola's buds
