In Japan, Natsume Sōseki is often considered the greatest writer in modern Japanese history. His portrait appeared on the front of the Japanese 1000 yen note from 1984 until 2004.
It’s a sad story. The main character of this story is an unnamed man and an older man he met by chance whom he calls Sensei. Sensei doesn't encourage their relationship. This man wants to learn from Sensei. A few characters are introduced in between. In the end, you learn about the guilt Sensei is carrying in his heart. It will make you think. It will make you sad. It is heartbreaking but it is also beautiful.
