Insidious is one of those movies that initially just makes you think, Ah just another haunted house story, and then BAM — you’re questioning every shadow in your room for the next week.
I remember watching it late at night on a cousins getaway, thinking we are tough. Ten minutes in, we all were already regretting our life choices.
Insidious follows a family dealing with a comatose son who isn’t just asleep—he's trapped in a terrifying ghost realm called The Further. As if parenting wasn’t hard enough already. The real kicker? The house isn’t haunted—the kid is.
One of Insidious’ greatest strengths is its atmosphere. It doesn’t just rely on loud noises to scare you (although it does those exceptionally well). Instead, it builds unease through unsettling visuals, a deeply disturbing soundtrack, and an oppressive feeling that something is always lurking just out of sight.
Would recommend—just maybe not at 2 AM alone (:
