Why is Vietnam all the rage nowadays?

but there are other places that are cheap + beautiful as well. Why Vietnam?

From what I have heard the alcohol there is very cheap. You can have a great week there under ₹50k flights included. Also, they have this festival there every full moon which is super crazy
