Rumor has it that Paramount has destroyed its 70mm IMAX prints of Interstellar. As a result, the September re-release may be cancelled or restricted to theaters that still have a print available.

Update: Interstellar will now re-release in theaters on December 6.
It will be shown in IMAX 70MM and digital screens.

According to Variety's sources, the rumor about 70MM prints of 'Interstellar' being destroyed is false.
Paramount claims that it has archived more copies of the film than most other movies.
Nonetheless, due to the wear and tear film reels undergo during screenings, it’s not unusual for them to become unusable after their theatrical runs.
