The film is produced by Apple Studios and began filming in July 2023 which is still ongoing. They have shot during actual F1 races and used the smallest moveable 6K camera ever.

In the film, Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who experienced a devastating crash in the 1990s, leading to his retirement from the sport. However, he is called back into the racing world by a Formula One team owner and friend, who requests his assistance in mentoring rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce on the Apex Grand Prix team
