Always thought American society was singular in its liberalism. Even with all its problems, it still remains the most liberal country in the world.
One of the reasons being whenever the Brits tried to impose some sort of centralized governance on early settlers, they could just leave and settle down somewhere else, far from the reach of any authority. An unprecedented freedom of movement that was probably never seen before in human civilized history.

Donβt get the direct relationship between the two.
The free country sentiment flows strong still within the mainstream majority but not a naturally positive thing.

Its not a direct relationship of course. History is too complicated and filled with multiple critical junctures to ever declare a single reason for any outcome. But the American colonization was really unique and distinct in itself. Not even the early Spanish had such freedom, in their conquest of Americas. Also not looking at this as positive-negative, just value neutral. And ofcourse The land they move to and took over was mainly native american territory.

So I am mainly talking about very euro-centric model of liberalism here.
