Long pending detailed review for The Railway Men 👇
It's super hard to single out a single person who acted bad. The acting ranged from average to OMG-level-excellent, right from random unnamed characters with a blink and miss scenes to the stars in making.
The best of the lot — Kay Kay Menon. It had to behim, right? Some of his moments are sure to gift you goosebumps.
Madhavan is top notch, just like every other time. And so is Juhi Chawla.
The surprise package of the entire series is Babil Khan. What a performance! And if he reminds you of someone specific, you're not wrong. Acting is in his blood — he's the perfect successor of the mighty Irrfan Khan 🙌
Dibyendu and Sunny were super as well ✨
Goes without saying that the direction and script were close to brilliant.
Imagine knowing of an incident faintly and witnessing it (even though on a television) and realising what a gloomy era it must have been.
I'd particularly like to highlight 2 of the most amazing aspects of this series, especially because they're hardly ever explored in the Indian attempts — cinematography and narrative transitions 🫶
You have to observe closely to see the mastery of shots, subjective framing and of course, the fluidity of camera for long shots that accentuate the moving subjects and incidents. Possibly the best in Indian series in a long-long time ✨
The narrative transitions are hardly ever put into play with most series, irrespective of the geography. But here they're not just highly creative, but absolutely effective, without distracting one from the main storyline.
We need more of such, please 🙏
