Asking me this question is like asking SRK if one should sleep less or not

Itās a hot potato. But I see where heās coming from.
Just that all workplaces arenāt the same. And thereās a lot of folks who end up working long hours at the cost of their health, relationships or just mental peace ā without an obvious upside.
So I get the reaction.

I used to work insane hours building my company.
But.. I also used to take a % of projects closed by me as a yearly bonus. Quite directly converting hours to $$$.
abhinit
Also, I was young, stupid, and cocky.
I routinely overestimated my skills, under estimated the complexity and my mouth committed timelines my ass couldnāt cash.

Used to pick up fixed budget complicated projects. Because it was easier to get ahead of other shops that way.
abhinit
Moved to hourly billing after a year or so. But I digress.

I still feel people should learn or atleast do something other than their main profession in their lives. Could be anything fitness, photography, content creation xyz
itachi
But this is a subjective opinion. Applicable to me only

I also, was an immigrant. My ālifeā didnāt fit outside 9-5. Iād go home to who?
Girlfriend in another continent. Parents in another state. Best friends were working with me at my company.
abhinit
I envied them for years. Before I got as good as them.

My idea of life was working my ass off, so that then I could take a few weeks off, after a project was closed, do my bike trips or go visit parents or my girlfriend.

Cool man. Whatever suits you, eventually we learn , unlearn and adjust

For my team itās do as I say, (do good work, and take care of yourself, I wonāt force anything) not as I do <end of thoughts>

But twitter is a place where you tweet something controversial then clear out the context, have seen the pattern too many times. Rest i feel a healthy argument is good and not taking out persons grudges in comments

I donāt think a weekday 9-5 job is taking anyone anywhere.
If someone is looking for that, then why not. But really not opening up doors for anyone to create a difference.

He mustāve built a workplace which lets people choose, and rewards outcomes over hours put in.
Who knows. I always assume the best intentions. But yeah most people on Twitter assume the worst.

Was thinking about it and I think we could apply Priceās Law on how most people like to āworkā

Working on weekends, 16 hour a day working. Thoughts?
I feel itās not a discussion of individual actions. We already live in a culture where the general expectation is to go above and beyond.
diya
The only factor that makes overworking a choice or not is individual privilege (If you can afford to lose a job, have access to opportunities to get another one etc etc then.)
diya
And companies demanding this is exploitation.

If I am passionate about something then I mostly lose track of time and won't mind working a little bit more for it
But yeah this behavior makes me lose on some other things that I could focus on
