For some reason I've never been able to read fiction. I breeze through non fiction books, but can't sit around and read fiction
I've never given the HP books a shot though. I guess it's time :p

In the Hindi dubbed version when Dobby says Malik ne Dobby ko moza diya… It hits different 🥹

My favourite book is Half blood Prince. Movie: the Philosopher's Stone and prisoner of Azkaban.
You've probably seen this, but read this if you haven't already

Have reviewed it. Amazing take!

I though feel, it’s a different combination of things that worked in HP’s case

Random things about Neville:
1. His name was not on the book of admittance for a long time. His magical abilities were hidden.
2. For five years he used his father’s wand (and probably that’s why he didn’t reach his full potential while performing magic as the wand as choses the owner).
3. He was possibly the last person to buy wand from Ollivander.
4. He married Hannah Abbot, became a professor of herbology and they lived above the leaky cauldron.

I feel he was downplayed in the movies. The reveal wasn’t satisfactory.

Perhaps I imagined him differently

Yes, he was. For me he was more heroic and powerful than Harry. Also movies don’t really talk in depth about his family…how the book of admittance discovered his magic and his story in general. That’s also because movies can’t focus on everything and everyone. That’s why books >>> movie.

P.S. I don’t like Harry Potter as a character

I didn't even realise that there was structure until I had read this twitter thread 😂
But the fact that the characters feel so human and relatable despite being in a super natural/fantasy world. There's so much emotional storytelling, themes of the strength of family bonds, value of friendship in darker times, loss of close loved ones, kindness, generosity & sacrifice are all well portrayed.
Characters are allowed to experience different emotions rather than remain one note. The friendships between the trio are wonderfully played out.
I can't pinpoint what worked for HP but it resonates with you!

Damn, didn't know any of this
I need to read the books ASAP!
I’ll give you an example:
Ron has been shown to be dumb, especially in the first few movies
him
In the books, he was the one who explained what a ‘mudblood’ is.

We’re discussing random stuff about Harry Potter here!
The movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was released in 2001, indicating that it was likely filmed and edited between 1997 and 2001. It's worth noting that the visual effects in the movie were impressive for their time, surpassing those commonly seen in current Indian films.

How many are there? Another friend got me on to Marvel. Well I had a lot of catching up to do. Luckily the trip overseas the flight entertainment system had a Marvel section.
