Toho was the distributor this time around afaik and they own the rights to Godzilla. Apart from the fact that had Godzilla vs Kong (Legendary) released in the same year, I don't think there should be any contractual issues. Clueless about this.

I read about this.
Since this was releasing, minus one was pulled out of the theatres. This one is from the main production company. And they hold complete rights. Minus one has partial rights.
