This film is a fantastic demonstration of my favorite form of horror, which is that of one that relies on fostering tension and psychological disturbance rather than cheap jump scares. The scenes displayed in this movie are some of the most disturbing content I've witnessed in a theater in a very long time. The movie is patient, yet graphic, in its execution, constructing scenes that truly push the boundaries of visual terror.

It's directed with incredible precision by two individuals who clearly possess a profound understanding of the horror genre, and I'm ecstatic to see the projection of their future careers. However, I believe, stems from the fact that none of them really undergo a significant character arc or experience any thematic development.

Instead, they seem to exist solely as agents of the plot, merely serving to drive the narrative forward. I believe that providing some of the characters with struggles to overcome or inner turmoil to wrestle with would have greatly benefited the movie. This could have added depth to their personalities and made the audience more emotionally connected to their journey.
