Kaafi pointless tha. I tried it for German which I knew the basics of.
Doesn’t teach you phrases you use in life but more structural stuff that you may learn in a course.
Also makes it easy so you feel like you know stuff but you may not actually be able to use it in the country that actually uses the language natively for conversations or to follow what they are saying. For that, movies with subs help a lot more.
I tried Russian and did manage to learn the alphabet mostly, so credit where credit is due!

I guess it helps a lot more with languages that have evolved from Latin, because with others, that alone seems like a whole diff ball game. I
I'm just playing a guessing game when I graduate to Katakana from Hiragana! You ask me what I've learned, I'll stare back at you blankly. Can't do it without practice letter sheets, lol

I’m learning Japanese. It’s been 109 days. I can speak and understand basic sentences. I have learnt sentence structure and can read a bit as well.
I am able to watch Midnight diner without subtitles.
I try and can read one line Japanese captions.

However, 4 years of Kdramas and I can understand the language. On my recent trip I was able to converse in both Japanese and Korean so that was a win.
I have super Duolingo (paid version) and am in Diamond league at the moment.
After you’ve reached a certain level you have speaking test as well as this thing called Radio where you listen and answer questions which helps with learning.

Because it works diffidently 🙇🏻♀️ with Duolingo the format is quite simple which makes it less tedious, less like learning more like a game. Learning from unacademy is taking a course which doesn’t sound as fun to me. While when Duolingo Lily tells me to speak Japanese I say hai hai.

Oh just for basics then but watching movies in that language is a very good idea to learn
