Apple surprised us with its announcement of a new iPad mini yesterday. I mean, sure, there were rumours that it was coming, but this is Apple - there are always rumours that EVERYTHING is coming (don't get us started on the ones about the car). So yes, we were surprised. Fortunately, the surprise has been a very pleasant one. At Rs 49,900, the new iPad mini retains the design and basics of the previous iPad mini, with a similar 8.3 inch display and look and feel, but brings to the table the A17 Pro chip, which is the same that was on the iPhone 15 Pro series. This makes it the most affordable device to run Apple Intelligence on. And that big display and support for the Apple Pencil Pro means one will be able to do a whole lot on it as well. We will let you know more when (and if) we get a device, but as of now, we are impressed - this could the mainstream Apple Intelligence device, as it is WAY more affordable than the iPhone 16, which starts at Rs 79,900!
