One of the most talked about gadgets in the recently concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC) at Barcelona were Chinese brand Xiaomi's Xiaomi 14 series of flagship phones. These not only come with the usual flagship specs (big processor and so on) but actually have cameras designed in collaboration with one of the biggest names in photography, German legend Leica! Well, the Xiaomi 14 is going to be coming to India on March 7 and it looks VERY interesting!

It's got a lot of super duper hardware and Leica cameras and all, but the first thing that will hit you about the Xiaomi 14 is just how compact it is, The picture shows it next to a OnePlus 12, and it looks much smaller t. No, it is not smaller than the iPhone 15 or the Pixel 8 or the Samsung Galaxy S24, but it is at 152.8 mm, one of the smaller flagships - much smaller than the OnePlus 12, the iPhone 15 Plus or the S24 Ultra - and easy to carry and use!
There is serious premiumness in that seriously compact frame. A Gorilla Glass back, a Gorilla Glass Victus front and a metal frame. The 6.36 inch display is LTPO AMOLED with 1.5k resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor (same as on the Galaxy S24 Ultra and OnePlus 12), and comes with a 4610 mAh battery with 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, It runs on HyperOS and Android 14! Top class stuff,
But of course, the biggest attraction of the phone are its Leica cameras. You get three on the back, all of them 50 megapixels each, and a 32 MP selfie sensor in front, The main sensor is the largest but the star is the telephoto which is a "floating telephoto" and not only gets you 3.2x optical zoom, but also some very distinct Leica-like portrait shots. There are Leica filters on board too. This phone is going to live or die by its snappers!
Just how much will all this put you back by? We do not know. We have been told the Xiaomi 14 will be priced 'below Rs 75,000,' but there is a strong rumour that it is likely to be close to Rs 65,000, the price of the OnePlus 12. We love the size and the specs and cameras are very promising. We so hope this one brings back more handy flagships.
