If you are in the market for a smartphone and have a budget of about Rs 30,000, then Xiaomi's new Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G will definitely interest you. Yes, at Rs 31,999 (lower with some offers), this Redmi Note is the most expensive yet, and is definitely expensive by general Redmi Note standards - the phone series used to be known for value for money devices in the range of Rs 15,000 until recently. But this "premium" Note has got a fair bit going for it.

It is part of a series legendary for its affordability, but the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is pretty much a premium mid-segment player. It easily looks way more expensive with its 1.5K bright, curved AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, and a back with a new block pattern around the camera. You even get a vegan leather variant in purple. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and the phone can also survive in water, thanks to an IP68 rating!

The cameras are impressive too. Make that "camera," actually as most of the shooting is done by a Samsung 200 megapixel sensor with OIS (the other cameras are really secondary). You not only get high resolution images and videos, but also 4x zoom without losing too many details. The chip running it is the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra, which is very good at handling multimedia. You also get stereo speakers, although a 3.5 mm audio jack is missing.

One of our favourite features of the phone is the battery life. The 5000 mAh battery easily sees off a day even with that brilliant display and charges in a mere 20-25 minutes, thanks to 120W charger. And yes, that charger comes with the device and is powerful enough to even charge your notebook if need be. It runs on MIUI 14 on top of Android 13, but is expected to get Xiaomi's much-hyped HyperOS soon.

It has a stylish design (curved display, vegan leather back), a good processor, a superb main camera, terrifically fast charging, Gorilla Glass Victus protection and can survive in water. And yep, it is likely to get an update to the most talked about OS in tech town. All of which makes the Redmi 13 Pro+ 5G a very good option for anyone with a budget of about Rs 30,000, looking to hit the middle ground between mid-segment and premium running!

As always, we would be more than delighted to answer any queries you have about the device. It does seem to be quite an interesting premium mid-segment offering, and a potential headache for OnePlus' Nord series!

This phone is everything that you can probably ask for in a smartphone. 90% of people will be happy with what it offers at that price. One issue that I think will happen with this phone is people might think that it is overpriced just because it is a "Note" series phone. Redmi could have launched this phone in India with a different name. Also I do like the fact that it has uniform bezels.
