It is the most expensive of the new iPhones, with a starting price of Rs 1,59,900. It is the one that's most in the wars too! We cannot remember an iPhone being placed under the scanner like the iPhone 15 Pro Max - well, not since the 'does it bend easily' days of the iPhone 6 Plus. It has been accused of a break-y back, smudge-y and peel-y sides, boiling insides and the lord knows what else. Sinner? Sinned? Here's what we think.

We have got the Black Titanium variant. It is about the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, although marginally shorter and thicker. You won't really notice the difference in size - it still looks big for an iPhone, although not by Android standards. You might notice the difference in weight, though. At 221 grams, it is heavy but 20 grams lighter than the 14 Pro Max. And thought big, it feels good to hold. That's the titanium effect. Speaking of which...

The much-hyped (and maligned) Titanium is on the frame of the phone. It is more elegant and less shiny than steel, which suits us fine. The back is glass, and while some have complained that the phone feels fragile, we think it feels fine. We have not tried breaking or bending it. Why on earth would we? It costs a bomb. The sides pick up smudges, just like steel did. In all, it looks smart. But in a plain, minimalistic way. Not as cool at the iPhone 15!

That plain-ish exterior hides some pretty hefty hardware. It runs on the new A17 Pro Bionic chip, which supports console level graphics. The 6.7 inch Super Retina XDR Display looks super, and the cameras get bigger sensors and a 5x optical zoom. The USB Type C port means you can connect a hard drive to it and shoot content directly on to it! The silent slider is replaced by an action button that you can customise. And it is still dust and water resistant.

It looks sleek, and has lots of muscle. The big question, as always, is: is it worth that price? You can get an iPhone 15, an iPad Air and AirPods Pro for this much. Answer: It depends on how much you need to do! The iPhone 15 Pro Max is a potential content creation monster for those wanting one device to do it all. Write, shoot, edit, watch, game, listen...it does it all at insane levels. Nope, our has not flaked, bent or heated up. Yet. Stay tuned!

It is the tone that is odd. We have seen iPhones take a lot of flak. But this time it is one of two reports being expanded to a crazy, almost hysterical level!

We think it became common sense after their initial experiments. They have figured out that most reviewers' opinions actually do not count for much. Tend to focus on a small group but really keep them in the loop. Amazon follows a similar system. Better than scattering units like confetti, especially to those who will praise whatever a brand gives them.

Unfortunately, a few brands do. It is not really healthy, but the comms professionals tend to chase traffic rather than messaging
