I discovered this movie, Hi Papa the Hindi version, randomly (or rather serendipitously) through Netflix. A quick read of the synopsis and I wanted to know more about the story of a father and his daughter with '65 roses'.
Perhaps there was some personal connection established in the synopsis itself.
How is the movie? Is it worth a watch?

✨ TLDR version ✨
The movie is a cool breeze on a sweaty-summery day. You should watch it if you're looking for some near-authentic romantic and family emotions. The movie is an emotional cotton candy that the star in the movie craves.
⚠️ Moist-eyes warning
⚠️ Beaten plot with a fresh take

Viraj (Nani) is a doting father to his six-year-old daughter Mahi, diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. She's long-wished to know the story of her (missing) mother but Viraj keeps avoiding the topic. As luck would have it, Mahi is able to recruit a newly found charismatic friend to convince her dad to narrate the story.

The directorial debut of Shouryuv is near brilliant. The Indian Telugu-language romantic drama holds a good pace, strikes the right emotional chord and is blessed with some really well-thought cinematography.
But to top it all, the director managed to get possibly the best performances from his entire cast. The most charming actor and character, the core reason why you must attempt to watch this movie, is Kiara Khanna. She's phenomenal!

Nani (Eega & Jersey) and Mrunal Thakur are a natural and amazing fit for their role. I must mention and applaud the couple's styling. They are perhaps looking their career best (except Mrunal's best being Sita Ramam).

⚠️ Spoilers Ahead ⚠️
One fascinating feature of most South Indian films is that they attempt to take up risky subjects and infuse creative plot twists wherever possible.
Some of the recent films I can think of with this bold recipe include RRR, Vikram, Leo, 24 and now, Hi Nanna. The Hindi film industry must take inspiration and infuse such elements in the near future.

With Hi Nanna, one must notice the subtle creativity of how the same character over different timeframes has been represented. Also, the whole storytelling and who do I imagine as this character part, is brilliant.

It's been long since I have loved watching a romantic drama from Indian cinema. And I'm glad Hi Nanna did the trick!
Has it been long since you have had a joy-tear? Go for this movie. The real world is too demanding, demeaning and demotivating. We need more of such stories and movies, to inspire us to make believe, in miracles and possibilities.

Watched it recently. The review is just so apt 🫰
Can't help but mention the background score was 🔥🔥
Yet another Hesham Abdul Wahab musical. It's great to see our favourite artists grow over time. I've been following his music since 2015 starting from 'Salt Mango Tree', 'Om Shanti Oshaana', 'Hridayam', 'Brahmastra (Malayalam)', 'Kushi' and now 'Hi Nana'.

Did u know that the first notes of the songs 'Samayama' from 'Hi Nana' and 'Darshana' from 'Hridayam' are the same? ✨🤌
