Rs 50,000 is a rather odd price point for getting a good smartphone. You are just a stone's throw away from REAL flagships, but there are a few compromises, either in design and/or spec terms. OnePlus however, has just released a phone that ticks most boxes at that tricky price point. It is the OnePlus 11R Solar Red. It costs Rs 45,999, and take our word for it, it is darned good value for money, and looks rather nice too.

This is basically a different version of the OnePlus 11R that was launched earlier this year. The OnePlus 11R was the more affordable sibling of the top of the line flagship, the OnePlus 11. It lacked some of the features of the top dog, most notably the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and the Hasselblad cameras, but still packed in a whole lot. Best of all? It came for Rs 39,999, as compared to Rs 55,999 of the OnePlus 11!
Well, it's back. And better. And RED!

As its very name indicates, the OnePus 11R Solar Red is, well, Red. A very nice shade of red it is too, not too bright, not too dark, but somewhere in the middle, leaning a little towards brick. And while the OnePlus 11R had a glass back, its Solar Red variant has a textured vegan leather one, with stitches on its borders. Very classy, very grippy and not too prone to scratches and smudges! This is one of the most striking phones in its segment.

The phone packs in broadly the same specs as the OnePlus 11R. And that's pretty good! You get the same bright 6.74 inch fluid AMOLED display with 2772 x 1240 resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate., the same Qualcomm SD 8+ Gen 1 chip (still powerful), the same impressive 50 MP Sony IMX 890 main sensor with OIS, the same not so impressive 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro cameras, and the same good 16 megapixel selfie camera. There's one HUGE change, though!

The big change is that the OnePlus 11R Solar Red comes with a staggering 18 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. That's very impressive at this price. OnePlus claims it can run more than 50 apps at the same time, and we would not be surprised if it did - 18 GB RAM is rare at any price point in the market. You also get a 5000 mAh battery with 100W charging support WITH A 100W CHARGER IN THE BOX that charges the phone in less than half an hour!

At Rs 45,999, the OnePlus 11R Solar Red gets a lot right - striking design, a still very powerful processor (it can handle Genshin Impact easily), truckfuls of RAM and storage, big battery and super fast charging, a great display, and a very good main camera, and of course, the clean OxygenOS that OnePlus is known for. It is a terrific all rounder.
Want a premium feels phone for about Rs 50,000?

If we compare this with Nothing Phone 2 then what you suggest?
Both are in similar price range.

It gets pretty interesting, actually. The Nothing Phone (2) has a similar chip and very clean Android, and also brings wireless charging to the table, as well as that crazy Glyph UI interface on the back. We are however, going to side a bit with the OnePlus because it packs in better cameras, has a better display, and heck, comes with a charger in the box. The Nothing Phone (2) is great if you want to try something new. The OP is a safer option!
