There is a new brand in tech town. It is called CMF and comes from Nothing, the brand co-founded by Carl Pei (one of the key figures behind OnePlus). CMF is a popular term in the design world, with the letters standing for Color, Material and Finish. And CMF intends to fight heavily on providing good design at affordable prices. VERY affordable prices, we think. The brand launched its first three products today and none of them are priced above Rs 5,000!

The three products and their prices are:
CMF Buds Pro TWS: Rs 3,499
CMF Watch Pro smartwatch: Rs 4,499 and Rs 4,999 (Steel)
CMF Power 65W GaN charger: Rs 2,999
Those are all very affordable prices and fall in what we like to call the "budget" segment. Nothing so far has struck to higher price tags with its phones and TWS, but with CMF, it is going right for the budget segment. And we think it has actually done a decent job. This seems like good stuff

All three products come with decent enough specs, and nice design touches. Let's start with the Buds Pro. For Rs 3,499, you are getting TWS with ear detection (music pauses when you remove a bad), ANC, battery life that goes beyond 20 hours, and decent gesture controls. And it all comes in an elegant case that looks like compact from a cosmetic company, with a metal hinge. It looks striking and more premium than its Rs 3499 price tag indicates.

That formula of subtly good design with lots of features is repeated with the CMF Watch Pro. Priced at Rs 4499, it does not look 'budget;' from any angle. It has a metallic frame, a band with a metal strap and a pretty good, big 1.96 inch AMOLED display. It has got GPS, a heart rate sensor, a blood oxygen sensor, high heart rate alerts, 13 day battery life, sleep tracking and IP68 water resistance. And is also has that retro-ish UI seen on Nothing Phones.

Finally, there is the Power 65W GaN charger. It seems the most modest of all three products, but you get 65W charging in a two pin charger that is light and can fit into most pockets, It has a single USB Type A port and two Type C ports, and the charger is powerful enough to run most notebooks and smartphones. Yes, at Rs 2999, it seems expensive, but then GaN chargers are expensive as the tech is new - a similar charger from Belkin is priced at Rs 4500!

All of these come in packaging that is strikingly different - instead of rectangular or square boxes, they come embedded between two sheets of cardboard and are delivered in a paper bag. They all look sleek and elegantly finished, and significantly better than what we have seen in the budget segment. If they work well, this could be one brand to keep an eye on because it is giving well designed devices for not too much! Feel free to shoot us your queries!
