It has got to be one of the oddest named brands out there, alongside Poco, but Vivo's sub-brand iQoo has been doing rather well. It generally throws in some very good hardware, adds a good design and sells it at a pretty affordable price. This is the approach it has followed with its latest phone, the iQoo Z7 Pro 5G, which got launched yesterday. It starts at Rs 23,999 for 8 GB/ 128GB and also has a 8 GB/ 256 GB variant for Rs 24,999. Here's a quick look!

First off, the phone does look good. We got the black unit and it has got this glittery finish on its glass back that kinda sparkles in the light. It is shiny without being cringe, if you get us. There is also a rather prominent white circle around the flash on the back - a special portrait flash, we are told. he front is a normal tall display with tiny bezels.  It is not a bold design, but we think it is pretty eye-catching without getting in your face.

It is a biggish phone - taller than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but it is very impressively slim at 7.4 mm (the iPhone is 7.8 mm), and at 175 grams, it is light for the size. Glass on the front and back give it a premium touch, although the metallic looking frame is actually plastic. It is large, but is comfortable to hold, with slim, curved sides. It looks more expensive than a Rs 23,999 phone.

There is some very good hardware onboard too. You get a 6.78 AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution, and 120 Hz refresh rate. The processor is the star of the show - the new MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor, which is among the most powerful in the Rs 25,000 zone. There's also a 64 MP main camera with OIS, a 2 MP bokeh camera from which we expect nothing, and a 16 MP selfie camera. The opruns on Android 13, with FunTouch OS (yes!) on top of it.

It ain't all roses- that slim frame means the battery is only 4600 mAh (5000 mAh is routine at this price), although with support for 66W charging (there's a charger in the box, relax). There are no stereo speakers either, something that's common at this price, and no 3.5 mm audio jack. All said and done: a pretty powerful and pretty pretty phone for the price. Gamers and power seekers on a tight budget will like! A Redmi Note/ OP Nord CE challenger!
